2019 - Re-Election Annoucment
SHARPSBURG, GA - Blue Cole, 41, a resident of Sharpsburg, has qualified to run for re-election as mayor of Sharpsburg in the upcoming municipal election to be held November 5, 2019. Cole, a published author and entrepreneur is a native of Sharpsburg and a proud graduate of East Coweta High School and Georgia Southern University.
“The last year has been good for Sharpsburg,” Cole says. “We have kept our budget under control while making noticeable improvements in town, such as new signage, community cleanups, and establishing our online presence."
Cole’s vision for Sharpsburg includes careful, deliberate growth guided by the engagement of citizens, property owners, and the business community. Expanding town services and amenities are also key goals.
“We have taken several positive steps regarding infrastructure, including discussions around sewer and plans for local road improvements. Our proposed TSPLOST project will accommodate the traffic from the upcoming 12 Parks development,” said Cole. "By adding things to do in town, such as our library and community activities, we will see Sharpsburg continue to be a vibrant, small-town center of living."
Cole and his wife, Missy, a biologist at the Center for Disease Control, have 4 children and 4 grandchildren. In addition to his professional career, Cole remains active in the community, having volunteered over ten years as a coach with the Southern Soccer Academy, and assisting with the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce. Past community contributions include Habitat for Humanity and The Community Welcome House.

“Sharpsburg is a fast-growing area with the potential to become a vibrant, active community. I wish to keep the small town feel while offering our citizens amenities in a close knit, welcoming community,” Cole says. “Sharpsburg is a great place to raise a family. Families want to spend quality time together, which is an opportunity for local businesses. Sharpsburg has a great foundation, and it's time we started attracting families and home town businesses."
