Coweta County has more than a thousand miles of roadway, and many of the routes we take from work to home to play quickly become rote. Roads are more than a length of asphalt or gravel, though; they mark the path to a place while providing a reminder of the people and places from the past.

Coweta at Political Crossroads We are at a crossroad in Coweta County; for the last handful of years, we’ve seen sustained population growth and economic activity making us one of the state’s success stories coming out of the Great Recession. Coweta GOP Crying Wolf CRT in Virginia. Porn in Texas libraries. Trigger warning sirens. Porn in Virginia libraries. 5th Circuit Court rulings. Zinn. 1619. Zuck. Y'all notice a pattern? No Left Turn for Education: Check your blinker fluid At the Nov. 12th meeting of the Coweta County School Board, the local chapter president for ‘No Left Turn in Education’ (NLTE) questioned board members with dramatic flair, insinuating our school system is endangering the fragile minds of young adults by allowing books with bad words. HUBBA HUBBA: Husbands behaving badly There are two types of husbands: the behaving kind, and the not behaving kind. The behaving kind has several sub-types, but the not-behaving kind has lots of sub-types. The Not-Behaving Variety runs the gamut from chasing (women, fish, cars) to cheating (best friends, sisters, brothers) to taking (booze, drugs, money). Hidden in between the two are the Mostly Behaving. While we can veer from mostly good to mainly entertaining, I have been living on the edge between the two worlds. The Legend of the Milk Sandwich In the Southern states there is a base instinct, bred from years of rural legends; milked with every stereotype, and brought up every time the temperature dips and the rain approaches. This instinctual drive for sustenance and laying-by harkens back to our pioneer roots, when a grocery store filled with survival items was nothing more than a dream in the back of a businessman’s mind. D.A.D.S: Dudes Aging Defiantly DAD (da-ad), noun 1.) a father; 2.) an exclamation of dismay, denial, or affection 2.) a dude aging defiantly If you have to wonder if you’re a ‘Dad’, then… you’re probably a Dad. While most folks might not be able to define what a ‘Dad’ is, they know it when they see it: Shorts and sensible sneakers. Sunscreen just when you need it. Corny jokes when you don’t. All of those loveable but irritating things we do, and by Goawd, do well. WHAMAGEDDON Approaches One of the best things about the internet is the ability to find cool friends who don’t necessarily live nearby. Cool friends are great to have because they know other cool things you don’t, and they will share. One of these cool things I’ve learned is the holiday song death match that is WHAMAGEDDON. One Light to Rule Them All This holiday season started out with a flicker… flicker… flicker. I felt a snap, and I knew. I knew I’d lost a friend, a guide, and one of the most useful tools I’ve ever had: The Little Light. ™. It was a gooseneck LED booklight, powered by a single AAA battery, and it was older than at least one of my kids and all of my pets. |

The Flash
In the blink of an eye, humanity has been reversed to a bestial level by “The Flash”, an energy pulse of unknown origin. All higher thought processes have been erased, removing every trace of civilization and culture, leaving these new creatures concerned with three things: fornicating, feeding, and fighting.
The survivors must first find one another amid the chaos and destruction. The Scramblers are merciless, swarming over everything and everyone in their path. If they are lucky, those who survived the Flash will pick up the pieces left behind.
The People
Abigail and her brother, Aaron, are celebrating her 12th birthday at a popular restaurant with their parents. Cameron is working another Friday night behind the grill. Duke, a prison guard, has been placed on leave due to inmate abuse. Recent reports from the media state that the sun has been behaving strangely; a stronger than normal solar storm is expected to hit the Earth over the next week.
The four of them – Abigail, Aaron, Cameron, and Duke – survive the Flash. When they wake up, they find everything they’ve known has changed. Cameron is now in charge of two youngsters he’s never met, and Duke... Duke is still Duke. Cunning and violent, his ambition is far greater than the small town he lives in.
As Cameron and the kids come to grips with the threats they face, Duke returns to the prison he was barred from, where he settles in preparing for the unknown. They all hope to find sanctuary; while they have survived, those who were Flashed are different. They can’t speak. They can’t reason. They are no longer human, but still in human form.
Their struggles start in their respective small towns, until they eventually face each other in Atlanta. But after a decade trying to survive in the city, it becomes obvious they need to move...
ELSEWHERE
Atlanta is decaying as it slowly runs out of resources. The survivors of the Flash dream of living Elsewhere... A place where they can run in the grass, grow crops in real dirt, and not have to live with the constant threat of both human and scrambler attacks. Elsewhere becomes a dream, a catchphrase, “anywhere but here; Elsewhere”
Abigail, Aaron, and the residents of 'Decktown', a re-purposed parking deck in downtown Atlanta, have found Elsewhere. While they work to flee the city, Duke is watching, coveting... and once they leave the concrete shelter of their home, they'll have a hundred miles of scramblers to contend with.

A young girl runs from the pain of her parent's death, into a world of rednecks, and a strange house that seems haunting familiar. A group of survivors huddle in a parking deck, surrounded by creatures who were once human. My worlds push the boundaries of fiction, mixing apocalyptic, horror, paranormal, and a dash of the weird; these are the sandboxes I create. Original stories, memorable characters, and a unique vision await you. |
